It is better to think of migrating to a new VoIP system than
to think of it as a cutover or conversion to a new system.
You and your vendor(s) should design an implementation
plan divided into separate, manageable steps, where each step
build on the ones before it. Make sure you have adequate
training and support for users along the way. This will mitigate
user problems and minimize “technology shock.”
The more sophisticated and integrated systems become,
the more difficult it is to make significant changes. Making
significant changes once the project is underway can be very
expensive and time consuming. This is why we repeatedly
stress the planning process.
Also, remember to establish a 10%-15% reserve in your
budget to address unforeseen issues.
